Aloha
This word has many special meanings from hello to goodbye. It also means showing love and affection and extending care from the Hawaiian people.
Hawaii is called the “Aloha State” because of our welcoming nature to others and showing our warm hospitality to friends and family who visit.
In addition, you may have heard of people having the “Aloha Spirit,” which means to have respect for one another, help one another and be kind to each other.
Since our State only has roughly 1.416 million people (2019 data), we may be connected to each other by being a relative, or a Hānai (informally adopted) relative or through a close friend. So you really can’t be too rude to others because it might bite you from behind and you may get in trouble! As we say in Hawaii, “This island is so small!” Meaning, you can’t talk bad about anybody because you may be related to them somehow or someone you know, knows that person, and that’s not having the Aloha spirit.
